Past the glen where
faeries sleep
Buried
deep in hearts reborn
Dwells
the legend of the unicorn.
~
He comes again to light now bidden,
Out of the shadows where long lay hidden
The myth, the lore, the stories old
Of the lions tail, of the horn of gold.
~
Magicians claim him, legends name him.
But only a virgin's touch can tame him.
Waters he can purify, and poisons know
And signify.
~
But long ago on a day of yore
The unicorn became no more,
As from the Ark he was cast
To reign in memory's distant past.
~
Yet lives he
still near pebbled walls
Where
castles stood, their ivied halls
A
haven safe from all who scorn
The
legend of the unicorn.
